St. Matthias is a small, welcoming Episcopal parish in Athens—the only one in Henderson County—and part of the Diocese of Dallas. Set on beautiful, wooded grounds with a quiet prayer garden, we gather as a caring family for Word and Sacrament, mutual support, and service. We hold to the Anglican way of seeking God’s truth through Scripture, tradition, and reason, and we proclaim the good news that we are saved by God’s grace alone. Whether you are lifelong Episcopal, exploring Christianity for the first time, or simply seeking a peaceful place of beauty, reverence, and genuine fellowship, you will find a home here.
